Kalleske Johann Georg Shiraz - 2009
Johann Georg Shiraz is a single vineyard wine produced from the oldest vineyard on the Kalleske farm, planted in 1875, that produces very low yields from gnarly, dry grown vines. The wine is a tribute to Johann Georg Kalleske, the first Kalleske ancestor to migrate to Australia from Prussia in 1838. The old vine fruit is open-top fermented, basket pressed and matured in new and used French and American hogsheads for two years prior to bottling. A powerful, but elegant wine of great sophistication showing flavours of dark berries, cured meats and savoury spice. The full-bodied muscular palate is rich and dense with finely textured tannins and fleshy dark fruit. A generous finish completes this magnificent wine that will benefit from a decade or more in the cellar.

Kalleske Buckboard Durif - 2010
The Kalleske vineyard and farm was established at Greenock in the Barossa’s North-West in 1853. For more than a century, the horse drawn ‘buckboard’ was indispensible on the farm. The buckboard buggy transported not only people but hauled produce and supplies to and from the farm, including countless loads of grapes. In the mid 1900s the horse was replaced with a motor and then the buckboard further evolved into a flat bed truck and eventually to the modern ute. Buckboard Durif is a single vineyard wine that’s been grown, vintaged and matured on the Kalleske property. Vigilant grapegrowing, traditional winemaking and 18 months barrel maturation has resulted in a powerful, full-bodied wine of great flavour and intensity.

The wine is well structured and very harmonious. A lingering savoury finish completes a varietally true and very flavoursome Tempranillo. Dodger can be enjoyed now or over the next eight years.
